Saving Corn Seed in Kenya

Post date: Feb 26, 2011 7:35:06 PM

One of the most outstanding developments in agriculture has been the ability to genetically breed hybrids especially corn hybrids. Unfortunately there are very few farmers in third world countries that have access to corn hybrids or that can afford them if they do. Michael Nyangi has devoted his life to helping AIDS orphans near Houma Bay in Kenya. Michael tries to grow most of the food for the orphans (over 100) and he and I try to help each other in this effort. I give advice on agriculture and he teaches me what it is like to devote your life to a cause other than yourself!! Check out the article I wrote to Michael as he was preparing to harvest his corn and wanting to save corn seed for next years planting.
