Mushrooms on Mulch

A dry spell followed by good rain will always result in lots of different mushrooms or fungus on wood mulches. Even old roots underground will prove a great breeding ground for mushrooms.   Mushrooms can even grow underground and be quite large, in fact some can grow to be acres in size.  They are harmless to live plants and are part of the natural cycle, breaking down dead plant residues into nutrients for living plants, insects and bacteria.
